Race Recap // Do All Things With LoveWe completed the 103 mile bike ride! It was much harder than I expected, but that was because we spent around 7 hours on a bike seat and the headwind really sucked. My number one complaint about this race was the condition of the roads. It was the bumpiest most uncomfortable surface to drag yourself over for 100 miles. Upside was that it was pretty scenic, it was just along the top of a levee along the Sacramento river… although that does get old too after about hour four.

As someone who is super busy, but really wants to eat healthy (and not spend money out all the time) I have found that weekend food prep is by far the biggest time and money saver. If I could only make one lifestyle change I would make this a key part of my week. I try to spend part of my Sundays shopping, slicing and cooking up food for the week. These recipes are some of the fastest that I have in my repertoire. Hummus takes about 10 minutes, granola bars just take 5 minutes (plus freezing time) and the chicken soup is a crock pot invention that takes only about 10 minutes of active time.

62 mile Ride // Do All Things With Love

I used to race back in college when I was 19 and 20, but at a very low level and I was never serious enough about it to commit real time and energy to train for races. Now that I’m getting back into biking I actually train for rides and I am enjoying riding for completely different reasons. If you were wondering, I still don’t take myself seriously at all, but I do love getting to ride fast with my friends, I love exploring the Bay Area on my bike and I love that cold post-ride beer. Yeah, okay so beer probably isn’t the best recovery drink it turns out.
